City staff monitored and inspected the project, however all of the work was done by the volunteers of the softball organization. This year, Moorpark Girls Softball is offering to make the same improvements to the north field. The work needs to begin as soon as possible in order that the work can be completed prior to the beginning of the softball season, which begins on March 23. Staff is recommending that the City Council accept this donation of park improvements by Moorpark Girls Softball, and direct staff to work with the organization in scheduling the necessary work. As you know last year Moorpark Girls Softball funded the improvements to field #3 next to Mt-Meadows School. We provided fencing and dugouts as well as cement for the dugouts. This year we would like to improve field #4, next to the cabana in the same manner, by providing fencing, dugouts and benches. We feel this will make the field safer to play on as well as benefit the league and the Parks & Rec.. We will provide the funding for this project and would like to meet with your maintenance person to map out the process as soon as possible. The leagues opening day is March 23rd and we would like to have the work completed by then. We also would like permission to burn -in grass lines for our Tee -ball players , over near the bathrooms, there is alot of extra room there and it would work well for our Tee -ball teams. Thank you for allowing us to use the park for our practices and games, we are a growing league and are very appreciative of the Parks & Rec. support. If you have any questions please give me a call 5294439. I will contact you next week to follow up on our request. Sincerely, Larry LaFata President, MPGSB.
