MEMORANDUM
i,.l• The Honorab i e City Council
FROM: Patrick J. Richards, Director of Community Development
DATE: May 28, 1987 (CC meeting of 6/3/87)
SUBJECT: 1 tR TWar>ik,;. HOMES - SIDEWALK ALONG TIERRA REJADA ROAD
pcr✓
Tn consideration of concerns expressed by the Council regarding the use
of a straight sidewalk adjacent to curb along Tierra Rejada Road, from
Moorpark Road westerly, staff attempted to work towards alternatiass
with the deveiopers involved.
On May 11, 1987, staff met with representatives from Pacifica
Corporation, Pardee Construction Corporation and Warmington Homes to
discuss the existing and future sidewalk along Tierra Rejada Road. The
end result of this meeting was that Pacifica would not fill in the
cut-out sections along their wall; Pardee would continue working with
staff for the placement of a meandering sidewalk, and Warmington was
going to proceed with their approved sidewalk plans. Warmington argued
that their plan did provide for planting area in iron'_. of the wall
facing Tierra Re;jada. Road. Also, they could not wait any longe:~ for
completion of their project and they had an approved sidewalk plan.
Tnasmu::h as P. rdee is still willing to consider a meandering sidewalk
they need a specific design from the City from which to evaluate their
position. Staff is requesting at this time that Cit;,, Council ' s approval
for the use of landscape assessment funds in -•In amount not to exceed
$1,000 for the purpose of hiring a landscape architect to accomplish the
conceptual design work for both the Pardee acd Pacifica sections of
Tierra Rejada Road sidewalk.
