BACKGROUND:
At your October 3 Council meeting, staff was authorized to purchase two
monument signs; City Hall and the entry to the Civic Center. In
soliciting bids, staff included a concrete sign for Peach Hill Park

The Peach Hill Park sign design is similar to the signs which will be
installed at City Hall . The sign will include the City logo and the
words_ PEACH HILL PARK.
Bid proposals were received from two contractors: Design Masonry,
$13,769.40, and Identity Signage, $10,584. 10, which includes tax and
installation.
Funds for signs have been approved in the FY 1989/90 City budget in
Accounts 05-1147-903 ($3,000), 01-1149-903 ($3,500) and 05-1149-903
($3,500), for a total of $10,000. If all three signs are approved,
additional funds in the amount of $584. 10 need to be approved to
complete this project.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

signs to Identity Signage in the amount of $10,584. 10.

MEMORANDUM
TO: The Honorable City Council
FROM: Philip E. Newhouse, Director of Community Service
DATE: October 12, 1989
SUBJECT: Reconsideration of Wording for City Hall Monument Sign
BACKGROUND:
At your October 4, 1989, meeting, Council reviewed and approved two (2)
monument signs; one for the entrance to the City buildings at Moorpark
Road and one for City Hall . Lettering for the signs was similar except
the City Hall sign stated the building address, 799 Moorpark Avenue.
DISCUSSION:
In reviewing the City Hall sign wording, staff has a concern related to
the building address being placed on the sign. If for some reason
Moorpark Avenue is renamed, the sign would be incorrect and could not
be changed without disfiguring the sign, which is estimated to cost
approximately $3,000.00 dollars.
City Hall can be identified by placing the street address on the front
of the building. Staff suggests brass numbers if the recommendation is
approved by Council .
STAFF RECOM ENDATION:
Approve eliminating the address from the City Hall sign.
