SUBJECT: CONSIDER REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF FEES FOR USE OF COMMUNITY
CENTER, APRICOT ROOM, FOR "CATCH A STAR PROGRAM" TO BE
HELD NOVEMBER 24 FROM 3:00 P.M. TO 7:00 P.M.
BACKGROUND
The City has received a request for a waiver of fees for the use of the Apricot Room in the
Community Center for the Catch -A -Star program. Catch -A -Star is a non -profit program formed
to aid young people 1 I to 18 years of age who would otherwise not receive gifts during the
Holiday Season. A similar request for waiver of fees was made last year by Catch -A -Star. The
Council granted a waiver of all but "out of pocket" expenses.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Direct staff as deemed appropriate.

Subject: Request for use of City Facilities
Dear Sirs and Madame,
The Catch -A Star program requests that the City Council authorize
use of the Apricot Room in the Community Center on November 24,
1996 from 3:00 FM to 7:00 PM for a special Holiday program to
benefit the Youth of our Community. Waiver of the customary fees
for use of the facility is also requested.
Catch -A -Star is a non -profit program developed by the current and
former spoused of the City Council to aid young people 1l to 1.8 years
of age who would otherwise not receive useful gifts of clothing or
educational items during the Holiday Season. The program will also
try to help Moorpark youths in other age groups should their needs
be made known. On the evening of November 24, members of the
community will have the opportunity to john in and pick a star from
the tree at the Community Center which will select a young person
to receive a gift from them.

December 3, 1995 (5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). Staff
Recommendation: Direct staff as deemed appropriate.
MOTION: Councilmember Perez moved and Councilmember Wozniak
seconded a motion to waive all but out of pocket expenses
for the event. The motion carried by voice vote 4 -0.
