Re: Citizen Recognition Day
Moorpark citizens and residents are very supportive and helpful
lO ar
are one of the fortunate cities in having such tremendous support. There has been an
attempt to recognize some of the support at City Council meetings prior to continuing
to city business.
I would like to propose regular Recognition Days apart from the mundane
business of the regular council meeting. Such events might be held three to four times
each year on an evening devoted to expressing the city's appreciation for volunteer
services and such extraordinary actions as we see when someone goes beyond duty to
be a good neighbor and citizen.
Following formal announcements and presentations, a short reception could
follow .at which friends and family and council would be able to approach each
individual and personally express their gratitude.
The news media should be informed and provided necessary information and
the occasion should be televised. Let the city make such recognition a real event!
