The City Council appropriated $600 to support the activities of the
Senior Survivalmobile for the current fiscal year. The $600 has
been expended by the agency along with an additional $50 donation
received by the City and forwarded to the program. They have
requested by the letter attached an additional appropriation of
$350 for the remainder of this fiscal year.
This additional appropriation would bring the total appropriation
to $950. The budget for this activity aears in the
administrative services budget line item for p ofessional services
(01.4.117.641) along with other social service funding. Funds are
available in this budget line item due to fewer disbursements than
expected for other social service activities for the 9 month period
July 1990 through March 1991.
As stated in the attached letter from the Program Administrator,
the average ride costs $25.91. A "ride" consists of a one way trip
per client. "Rides" are only for those senior's who cannot drive
and have no other means of transportation. Forty "rides" to
Moorpark seniors have been provided this year. If additional
funding is not received, they have indicated they may have to
discontinue rides for the remainder of the year.
Recommendation
Approve additional $350 for the program for 90/91 fiscal year with
funds to come from the budgeted social services funds in account
01 -4 -117 -641.
