AGENDA REPORT
CITY OF MOORPARK
TO: The Honorable City Council
FROM: Baldemar Troche, Public Works Management Analyst 3
DATE: July 23, 1993 (CC Meeting of August 4, 1993)
SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR STREET
STRIPING SERVICES
OVERVIEW
This requests that the City Council approve a blanket contract
for street striping and related services.
DISCUSSION
It has been the practice of the City to put together plans and
specifications for an annual street striping and marking
(stenciling) project. Such a project is anticipated for the
Spring 1994. Staff will undertake any stenciling as
necessitated by the project.
In addition to this annual contract, urgent and minor street
stripping needs arise from time to time. In the past this work
was done under an annual contract with Safety Striping Service.
It is proposed that the City Council renew that annual contract
with this firm to allow for these services to be provided on an
as needed basis. The scope of work and agreed price would be
negotiated for each job, subject to the approval of the City
Manager. This contract would not preclude the City from
performing this work with its own equipment, or advertising for
receipt of bids for larger projects of this type if deemed
appropriate.
The total annual budget for street striping is $10,000. This
would include any miscellaneous striping projects (03- 142 -642)
anticipated for the current fiscal year as well as work
performed on specific capital projects, such as the installation
of botts dots on Gabbert Road, which is to be done outside of
the slurry seal construction contract but charged to the account
number for the capital project.

contract with Safety Striping Services for miscellaneous street
striping and marking services, as approved by the City Manager,
for an aggregate FY 1993/94 Total NOT TO EXCEED $10,000; and, 2)
authorize the City Manager to sign a standard City contract for
