Gilbert, Director of Public Works - DATE: January 3, 1997 (Council Meeting 1- 15 -97) SUBJECT: Consider Approval of the Assignment of the Street Sweeping Contract Between the City and Pacific Sweep Pacific Sweep has provided street sweeping services to the City since 1985. In May of 1990 the City Council approved a five year contract with that firm to provide those services through the end of 1994. In November of 1994 the City Council approved a new five year contract with that firm to provide street sweeping services through the end of 1999. �) s-0 ._ • Due to difficulties beyond their control, Pacific Sweep may no longer be able to continue to provide sweet sweeping services to the City. They are, therefore, considering selling the company to Venco Western, Inc. Pacific Sweep has, therefore, requested (see Exhibit 1) that the City approve the possible Assignment of the Moorpark Street Sweeping contract to Venco Western, Inc. A final decision regarding the sale of the company and the assignment of the contract has not yet been made. If this step is necessary, Pacific Sweep would like to be able to proceed with this transfer, with the approval of the City. Venco Western, Inc. is well qualified to perform these services and is prepared to assume these responsibilities in the City of Moorpark when and if necessary. Because of this unforeseen crisis, we ask that the City of Moorpark to consider the approval of the sale of Pacific Sweep to Venco Western. If approval is given for consideration. then Pacific Sweep and Venco Western will work with the City of Moorpark to complete the transaction.
