TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Mary Lindley, Director of Community Services / PREPARED BY: Dale Sumersille, Recreation Supervisor - DATE: February 11, 1997 (Meeting of February 19, 1997) SUBJECT: Consider Adoption of Resolution No.97- Revising the Fee Schedule for Public Park and Reservations and Repealing Section 2 of Resolution No. 86 -351. BACKGROUND The fee schedule for reserving park facilities has not been reviewed since 1993 and needs to be updated to include new parks and amenities. A copy of the current fee schedule is attached (Attachment "A"). The proposed schedule (Attachment "B ") includes the new parks and amenities, and fees for use of the Arroyo Vista Community Park multi- purpose Court. Some of the new fees are for: * Use of open areas at all parks. * Poindexter Park: Rental of horseshoe pits, rental of horseshoes, rental of new gazebos, rental fees for use of electricity at the gazebo's and picnic pavilion. * Use of the multi - purpose court at Arroyo Vista Community Park. * Use of soccer goals. Fees include costs incurred as a result of ongoing maintenance and custodial service, as well as administrative time to process rental requests. Staff has also included deposits for Jolly Jumps /Moon Bounces. This is a new fee that is being recommended to cover potential damage that may occur to the grounds as a result of the large inflated pad. City sponsored activities do not have a fee attached, but in most cases, programs generate some revenue to the City. In addition, staff is proposing revised reservation time guidelines. The new policy states reservations must be made with no less than one week's notice if fees are to be paid by check. If less than seven (7) days notice, fees are to be paid by cash, cashier's check or credit card. 0U0(Kib The Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed the proposed fee schedule for the Arroyo Vista Multipurpose Court at the September 16, 1996 meeting, and have concurred with the attached recommended fees.
