Lindley, Director of Community Services DATE: June 23, 1997 (CC Meeting of July 2) MA(ho) A ITEM . .z• CITY OF MOORPARK. CALIFORNIA city Council Mating Af -7/-L 1992 -19; SUBJECT: Consider Adopting Resolution No. 97 -_, Amendment to the FY 1997/98 Budget to Resurface the Basketball Courts at Campus Canyon and Glenwood Parks Executive Summary The City Council is being asked to adopt Resolution No. 97 -_ which amends the FY 1997/98 Budget by transferring funds from the Park Improvement Fund Balance for Zone 3 (Campus Park) and Zone 6 (Glenwood) to the Park Improvement expenditure line item. It is proposed that the funds be used to resurface the basketball courts at Campus Canyon Park and Glenwood Park. Background On June 18, 1997, with the adoption of the FY 1997/98 Budget, the City Council took action to approve resurfacing of the basketball court at Mountain Meadows Park and the tennis courts at Tierra Rejada Park. In order to accomplish this, the Council approved a loan of $5,800 from the General Fund to the Park Improvement Fund for Zone 5 (Mountain Meadows). The loan was necessary since this Zone 5 currently has a negative fund balance. In addition to the aforementioned resurfacing projects, staffs intent was to also have the basketball courts at Campus Canyon Park and Glenwood Park resurfaced. The Campus Canyon basketball court's condition is by far the worst of all of the City's court surfaces. It is heavily pitted (pop -outs) as a result of inferior aggregate. The two courts at Glenwood are worn and slick and in need of refinishing. There are sufficient funds in the Park Improvement Fund Balances for Zone 3 (Campus Park), approximately $259,030, and in Zone 6 (Glenwood), approximately $55,880. Staff recommends that funds be transferred from the respective park fund balances to a park improvement expenditure line item. Staff solicited and received three bids for the resurfacing of the courts at Mountain Meadows, Tierra Rejada, Campus Canyon, and Glenwood parks. The low bidder is Eastwood Tennis.
