Lindley, Director of Community Services DATE: September 17, 1997 (CC Meeting of October 1) SUBJECT: Consider Adopting Resolution No. 97 -(;/3 Amendment to the FY 1997/98 Budget to Purchase Special Supplies for the Senior Center Program Executive Summary The City Council is being asked to adopt Resolution No. 97 -_ which amends the FY 1997/98 Budget by accepting donations to be deposited in the Senior Citizen Center Trust Fund Balance and appropriated to the Senior Center Division Budget. It is proposed that the funds be used to purchase special supplies for the Senior Olympic Games scheduled to begin October 15. Background In preparation of the second annual Senior Olympic Games Event, the Senior Center Advisory Committee has raised approximately $700 to assist with the purchase of tee shirts for event participants. In order to expend the funds, the City Council needs to amend the 1997/98 Budget to appropriate the funds in the Senior Center Division Budget. The Senior Center Trust Fund was established to assist the Senior Center Program in managing and tracking its money, which is raised by the seniors through special events, donations, and official fund- raisers. The money in the Trust Fund is used by the seniors to purchase special equipment and provide special programs beyond the traditional expenditures funded by the General Fund. The Trust Fund balance is currently about $20,080. Recommendation (Roll Call Vote) Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 97-139 3 amending FY 1997/98 Budget by accepting donations of approximately $700 and appropriating $700 to the Senior Center Division budget (100.702.1016.000.9271) to purchase special supplies as identified in this agenda report.
