IN RE: ACQUISITION OF TAX DEFAULT PROPERTY
97 FIRST STREET, MOORPARK
Background: The City of Moorpark has been notified that a tax - defaulted
property within the City will be offered for sale at a Public Auction Tax Sale in February
unless the City objects to the sale. The City has the opportunity to purchase the
property at the tax default amount.
Report: The County of Ventura has informed the City of Moorpark that the
property at 97 First Street (see attached map) is in default of tax payments and will be
offered at a Public Auction Tax Sale on February 25, 1998 unless the City objects to
the sale. By objecting, the City will be able to purchase the property for the tax default
amount of $6,575.00.
In order to object to the public auction sale, the City Council must take action to notify
the County no later tan December 31, 1997. An "Agreement to Purchase" will then be
provided to the City for execution. A budget amendment for the purchase price will be
presented for action in January.
Recommendation: That the City Council indicate its objection to the sale of
property at 97 First Street, Moorpark and authorize the Mayor to execute appropriate
documents related to this action.

TO SELL TAX- DEFAULTED PROPERTY
AT PUBLIC AUCTION
Pursuant to the attached notice and request, it is hereby resolved that approval be
and is hereby granted for said sale as set forth in the said notice and that the Tax
Collector is hereby directed to sell the property described in said notice as provided
by law for a sum not less than the minimum price determined pursuant to Section
3694, 3698, and 3698.5 of the Revenue and Taxation Code.
